Memorial on the Embankment
Posted on 02 November 2008
Stephen, padre of the Essex Submariners' Association, joined Mick Vanner (standard bearer) for the Annual Memorial Service in London today.
Lead by Rev. Steven Brookes (Rector of Liverpool and Chaplain of the Submariners’ Association) and accompanied by the Band of the Royal Marines, Portsmouth, the moving service included the solemn recitation of the boats that have been lost in combat and in accidents in HM Forces. Meeting old friends, sharing reminiscences and recalling lost friends was accompanied by a brief reception on HMS President. A brief meal at the RNA, Southend on return concluded the day.
