Member Care in France
The consultation involved medical and psychological practitioners, pastors, counselors and others devoted to promote the well-being and care of those involved in cross-cultural Christian workers. Highlight of the conference was a banquet given in honour of Marjorie Foyle, the octogenarian doyenne of member care and author, among other books, of Honourably Wounded. Stephen comments, ‘The care of missionaries has often been the Cinderella of mission agencies and workers have often returned home burnt out and demoralised. Marjory and others have sought to emphasise that due care and attention must be given to those who have volunteered to serve Christ on the ‘front line’ in alien cultures. It is a privilege to be able to play a small part in ensuring we do care for those who are the apple of God’s eye!‘
