Come on and celebrate
On Saturday night family, friends and members of the congregation and organisations joined Gareth to celebrate his 25th birthday with some good old Derbyshire pies and mushy peas! Gareth shared his testimony and the evening ended with a ‘cool’ dance (or so one of the Sunday School commented!)
On Sunday morning Gareth preached on the incarnation of Jesus. Clearly he pointed out the fact that the belief that Jesus was God himself in human form is vital to the Christian message. His talk can be heard through the audio resources of this website.
Sunday evening was shared with the congregations of Wallis Avenue and Southend Evangelical Church. The last building was nearly full as Rudi led the service, Doreen, John and Peter provided lively accompaniment to the songs, Peter and Gareth introduced the challenge of student work, Sarah Dawkins read and Stephen preached from Philippians 3 on the fact that getting to know Jesus better is the most important aim for every believer. Many expressed their thanks for an evening that had challenged and encouraged them. We hope the joint meeting will be the first of many!
I still can’t decide upon my favourite flavour of Trifle; they were just all so good!
