A Noteable Jamboree
Posted on 06 August 2007
Father Nil, from the Monastery of the Holy Presence in St. Dolay, Brittany led a group of about thirty leaders and members of the First Orthodox Scout Troop of France to the International Gathering at Chelmsford last weekend.
Together with ‘old friend’ Stephen, pastor of Ferndale, he was, on Thursday, able to share the celebration of Holy Communion at St. Cedd’s seventh-century chapel, Bradwell-on-Sea (thanks to the Othona Community) together with the troop. The day was concluded by a barbeque at the home of Stephen and Anne with members of the Ferndale congregation. The lively fellowship between French and English Christians… even where common language was largely absent… was a lovely reminder of the fact that the gospel transcends cultures.
