2008 Starts with a Big Splash
The testimony of Melanie Diji was particularly poignant only four days after the funeral of her two-week-old baby, Daniel. Before a large gathering that included the Girls Brigade, she gave powerful testimony of her faith in Jesus as her saviour.
The welcome of new members was accompanied by the introduction and use of a ‘Church Covenant’ in which members promised to serve one another as they sought to seek God together. An extended time was required as members shared the ‘peace’ with one another and then joined together around the Lord’s Table!
Rudi, Gareth and Stephen were busy in ministry over the two Sundays. Gareth introduced the significance of baptism while Rudi challenged the congregation with the text he had chosen for the 2008 motto. From Ezra 7:10 he encouraged the Church to study, do and teach God’s word. Stephen, in another address, pointed out (from Exodus 33:15 that it is better to be abandoned by God than to go with his blessing and success but not his presence.
